Severe Dry Eye

The utilization of dehydrated amniotic membrane allografts to treat severe dry eye is on the rise in eye care practices offering a dry eye service line. Many providers and their patients feel as though the restorative properties of the allograft actually promote healthier functioning of the ocular surface. In similar ways, like lotion on dry skin, amniotic membrane allografts do have a “lubricating” effect.  And in many cases that is enough to simulate and stimulate more comfort.
